What is a Black Onyx 🖤

Black Onyx is almost unknown in nature; it is produced by warming chalcedony in a sugar solution for several days or weeks; and then placing the stones in warm sulphuric acid, which reacts with the sugar, precipitating free carbon. The color is permanent; no tests exist to determine the artificiality.
